Your Tasks

About the role:

The project is a deepwater offshore development located in the Bulgarian Black Sea. A greenfield project with local and regional importance.

The Head of Deparment Opportunity Management leads and integrates the delivery of the Han Asparuh development plans with responsibility for ensuring maximum value extraction from the area through robust front end loading (FEL).

The Head of Department Opportunity Management  will lead the Assess and Select phase work, making the necessary key decisions identified in framing, through integrating sub-surface, wells and facilities functions to ultimately deliver a preliminary Field Development Plan. Given the nature of the Han Asparuh reservoir (dry biogenic gas, Black Sea) some FEL activities can commence early e.g., identification of possible appraisal strategies and the initial development option screening activities that align with the agreed value drivers identified in framing.

  • Accountable for the maturation of the project to TG2 and the delivery of a suitable concept and development plan
  • Review the framing activities carried out to date and validate they adequately identify the key decisions for Assess/Select
  • Work with the sub-surface team to establish a preliminary Basis of Concept that considers the range of possible outcomes and sub-surface uncertainty. Agree the modelling work and work flows to ensure subsurface data, profiles etc. are available for integration to concept activities at the appropriate times.
  • Bridge the exploration to opportunity development phase and establish the optimum exploration/appraisal/development strategy for the area, and the value of information derived from each well.
  • Consider opportunities for parallel appraisal and development with a view to establishing sensible and industry benchmarked ranges for first gas dates of the various field development strategies/concepts
  • Establish the hydrocarbon recovery philosophy of the fields/area considering optimum number of drill centres/facilities capacity etc. Concepts should mitigate subsurface, wells and facilities risks whilst leveraging any opportunities identified.
  • Liaise with sales and marketing to ensure adequate market capacity and define possible export routes for the gas. Ensure development concepts are aligned to the sales gas strategy
  • Work with Drilling to establish a preliminary drilling sequence and execution strategy for the appraisal and development wells
  • Assess and screen the range of development concepts for the area considering the key technical requirements and, given the SE Europe/Black Sea geopolitical context, ensure concepts are robust to the broader constraints/environment
  • Conduct economic analysis of the possible development concepts, testing economic feasibility and determining the key value drivers which impact CAPEX/OPEX/ABEX and project rate of return etc. against OMVP hurdle rates

  • Development Engineering Leadership of front-end disciplines in Assess/Select Phases (Define/Execute experience desirable)
