This position is based in Tripoli (Libya), focusing on managing and overseeing OMV’s commercial interests and strategic initiatives in the region. OMV has maintained a strong presence in Libya since the mid-1970s, establishing itself as a key International Oil Company in the country’s Exploration & Production sector and holds shares in three oilfields. 
In order to enhance the value of OMV’s assets and drive future growth, the role involves managing commercial matters across the entire value chain, contributing to portfolio optimization efforts, and ensuring alignment with the OMV Group Strategy. In the role as an Advisor, you will establish networks with host governments, operating companies, joint venture partners and support OMV’s business development initiatives in Libya’s energy sector.

Your tasks

  • Negotiate, manage, and provide expertise on portfolio and commercial contracts for operated/non-operated assets and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, OMV standards, and the E&P Management System.
  • Maintain relationships with industry representatives and authorities in Libya (i.e., NOC, Agoco, Zueitina, and any other governmental authority).
  • Review, optimize, and ensure compliance with contracts and agreements and provide commercial support during tender evaluations.
  • Responsible for commercial aspects of concession issues, risk analysis, drafting and negotiation of any kind of commercial contracts.
  • Periodically update Libya growth strategy in line with performance and market conditions.
  • Screen and analyze current and new business opportunities (acquisitions, farm-ins/outs, divestments, swaps), including project evaluation and internal/external marketing, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy.
  • Evaluate and negotiate various commercial agreements, including acquisitions, divestments, farm-ins/outs, joint operating agreements, unit operating agreements, gas sales, and transportation agreements.
  • Responsible for identifying, maturing, and executing portfolio opportunities.

Your profile

  • University Degree Master/Diploma in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, Management, or Economics.
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant experience, including extensive experience in commercial and negotiations. 
  • Experience in asset valuation, due diligence, project management, and managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, contract negotiation expertise, and grasp of capital projects economics.
  • Advanced oral and written communication and presentation skills, as well as conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environments as well as fluent in English.
