Your tasks
- Providing cost-effective IP services tailored to the needs and priorities of one or more of OMV business divisions, including interacting and managing relationships technical, commercial and legal stakeholders.
- Providing objective, informed and legally competent advice and direction to the management of one or more of OMV business divisions regarding intellectual property rights, opportunities, risks and liabilities under supervision of Head of Department IPR.
- Maintaining an understanding of the relevant OMV business divisions, including knowledge of relevant business division and technology strategies, R&D activities and commercialization plans, portfolios of IP rights and assets.
- Collaborating with OMV business divisions and Innovation & Technology leadership to align IP strategies with OMV business division strategies, the licensing business and the Innovation & Technology strategy under supervision of HoD.
- Contribution to the implementation of IP strategies in a cost- and resource-efficient way by providing a broad range of IP advice and services, including the securing and maintaining of appropriate worldwide protection for IP, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, advice on the protection of confidential information and trade secrets, publication strategies, etc.
- Identifying IP risks to OMV business divisions and managing them, where appropriate in collaboration with the Legal department.
- Maintaining expertise in patent laws of the home jurisdiction; demonstrating ability to work within a field characterized by much uncertainty, maintaining a working knowledge of patent laws, regulations and processes throughout the world.
Your profile
- Master's degree in one of these areas: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Physics or similar
- At least 9 years of relevant professional experience, ideally 3 years post-EQE experience.
- Strong career emphasis on patent practice in the EPO and a working knowledge of patent practice in other countries and of international patent conventions.
- Previous in-house experience preferred.
- Must be a qualified Patent Attorney with a European and a national qualification, ideally a registered Representative before the Unified Patent Court.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Fluent in English, German advantageous
