Your tasks

  • Synthesizing (lab scale), characterize, and optimize heterogeneous catalysts for various chemical processes in collaboration with external partners.
  • Managing physicochemical analyses of catalysts using techniques such as XRD, BET, SEM, TEM, and XPS as well as collaborating with team members to design and interpret experiments aimed at improving catalyst performance.
  • Utilizing advanced analytical techniques to study the properties and behavior of catalysts as well as interpreting and report analytical data to support catalyst development and optimization efforts, as well as troubleshooting in existing processes.
  • Designing and execute kinetic studies to understand the reaction mechanisms and rate-determining steps.
  • Analyzing reaction kinetics and develop models to predict catalyst performance under various conditions as well as studying mass and heat transfer phenomena affecting catalytic reactions and reactor performance.
  • Conducting bench-scale and pilot-scale testing of catalysts under relevant reaction conditions.
  • Evaluating catalyst performance through activity, selectivity, and stability tests as well as optimizing reaction conditions to achieve desired outcomes in terms of yield, efficiency, and selectivity.
  • Supporting the development and design of catalytic processes from lab scale to pilot scale as well as collaborating with chemical engineers to integrate catalytic materials into process flows.
  • Developing process design parameters, scaling-up methodologies, and optimization strategies as well as supporting troubleshooting and optimization of processes to enhance performance, reduce costs, and ensure scalability.

Your profile

  • University Master's Degree/Diploma in the field of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in heterogeneous catalysis, preferably in an industrial or academic research setting.
  • Experience with advanced catalytic materials such as zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), or supported metal catalysts.
  • Knowledge of industrial catalytic processes and their applications in fields such as energy, chemicals, and environmental remediation, especially hydro-processing, methanol synthesis, alcohol dehydration, and/or olefin oligomerization.
  • Strong data interpretation and analytical skills and familiarity with analytical software, as well as general scientific software (e.g. Matlab, Python, Origin, JMP).
  • Advanced English language skills (German is a plus).
